The Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art will host a second Summer Arts Festival gallery opening at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19. The exhibit is on display until July 23, featuring works from 30 artists selected by Rich Richardson, director of Mark’s Garage in Honolulu.
The Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art will host a second Summer Arts Festival gallery opening at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19. The exhibit is on display until July 23, featuring works from 30 artists selected by Rich Richardson, director of Mark’s Garage in Honolulu.
Several workshops are planned July 19, including Ira Ono with “Business for Artists,” plus presentations by Full Life Hawaii starting at 10 a.m., which will include exhibits by more than 40 artists. Full Life is a nonprofit serving the developmentally disabled and special needs community in Hilo.
“Journey to the Sun — a Summer Peace Concert” with Blue Indigo will feature harps, flutes, vocals, saxes, clarinets and keyboards, with Champaka devi dasi, a South Indian dance starting 7 p.m. Admission is $10-$15.
For the festival, clothing designer Akihiko Izukura created a new line of men’s clothing in addition to his selection of women’s attire. Izukura also is offering workshops throughout July on several topics, ending with three days of studio time to create works to be displayed in the museum.
